Kogi Govt Recovers 53 Stolen Transformers, Talks Tough On Perpetrators
Kogi State Government said it has made frantic effort to recover 53 stolen transformers meant for electrification of rural communities, warning perpetrators to desist from intentional sabotage to private and government properties or face the full wrath of the law.
This was revealed through a press statement issued by Hon. Ismail Isah, the Special Adviser Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo while making assessment of security situation in the state.
While commending the security operatives in the state for being steadfast in the discharge of their duties effectively and efficiently at all times, the Special Adviser noted that Kogi State maintains zero tolerance to any form of criminality, adding that whoever is bent on reversing the gains of the previous and current administrations on security would not escape justice.
The statement specifically cited the recent interception of 53 electrical transformers meant for electrification projects in different parts of the state and the subsequent arrest of gang criminals responsible for the act as an indication of improvement in the fight against crime in the state.
Hillcrest Tv gathered that, the electrical transformers were stolen from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility in the state by the gang of criminals who were arrested in Obajana on their way to Lagos State.
The statement further added that, the 53 electrical transformers which have now been recovered and kept at an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) facility in the state may have stalled the installation of the transformers in different communities in the state earlier in the year.
The statement also read that some of the criminals volunteered useful information that led to the arrest of a fleeing member of the gang in Ilorin, Kwara State and the alleged receiver of the transformers in Lagos State respectively.
Governor Ododo who restated his determination to stamp out crimes and criminality in the state, has once again talked tough on the crime perpetrators in the state.
He assured security agencies of maximum support by the state government to ensure the security of lives and property in all parts of Kogi state is sustained.
