President Tinubu to Embark on Addis Ababa Journey
President Bola Tinubu is to depart Abuja on Thursday, February 15, to attend the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
This year’s summit, themed “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century,” focuses on building resilient education systems to enhance access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.
According to a statement from Ajuri Ngelali, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu would engage in high-level discussions with other African leaders on institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, and thematic issues such as climate change.
Additionally, he would discuss the
modalities of the AU’s participation and priorities in the G20.
Ngelali further mentioned that President Tinubu, in his capacity as the Chairman of ECOWAS, would also attend an extraordinary summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS during the event.
The President is to be accompanied by some ministers and top government officials, with plans to return to Abuja following the conclusion of the summit.
