Okene, Lokoja Residents to Enjoy Potable Water As Govt Procures Treatment Chemicals
Residents of Okene and Lokoja metropolis have been assured of restoration of stable potable water supply as Kogi State government took delivery of water treatment chemicals and other items for easy reticulation.
This was made known yesterday by the State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Farouk who reiterated that Governor Usman Ododo-led administration is committed to ensuring the welfare of the people especially in the area of providing potable water.
While confirming the receipt of various water treatment chemicals and other items, Engr Farouk gave the assurance that both Okene and old Lokoja Waterworks would resume operations in no distant time.
Emphasising that water challenge is a major concern for Governor Ododo, the Commissioner for Water Resources, noted that the state government’s commitment to ensuring potable water is delivered to the doorsteps of the people of the state remains unwavering.
Engr Farouk further declared that modalities for the old Lokoja and Okene Waterworks to begin supply of water to residents of Lokoja metropolis and other parts has been concluded.
“This delivery of water treatment chemicals for both the Old Lokoja Waterworks and Okene Waterworks is a testament to Gov. Ododo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises to provide water for the people.
“We are aware that the Old Lokoja Waterworks may not be able to supply the whole state capital, there are efforts for palliative measures to supply other parts of Lokoja not covered by the Old Water Works”, he added.
