“We’ll Overcome This Hardship Soonest,” Kogi Auditor-General For LG Assures Kogites
Kogi State Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege has expressed optimism that the current hardship being experienced by Nigerians, especially the people of Kogi State would soon be a thing of the past.
Hon. Yakubu made the assertion recently in Lokoja while addressing stakeholders from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state on the immediate steps taken so far by the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to mitigate the hardship occasioned by inflation.
Affirming that the current economic realities have brought untold hardship on the people both in the public and private sectors, the Auditor-General noted that aside from the distribution of food items as palliative measures, the Kogi State government is poised to expeditiously key into all intervention programmes that the Federal Government would soon roll out across the country.
“The state government under the able leadership of Alhaji Ododo has just commenced a new phase of food items distribution as palliatives. The beauty of this exercise is that the Governor himself is leading a monitoring team to ensure that the items reach the indigent people, especially at the grassroots without preferential treatment.
“It is Governor Ododo’s desire that the items reach the greater majority of the people which made him involve all stakeholders, especially traditional rulers, caretaker chairmen, labour unions, and clerics, in order to avoid hoarding,” he said.
The Auditor-General further enjoined the people to have abiding faith in the leadership of the country and the state, stressing that the government is working assiduously to reduce the prevailing cost of living and weather the current economic trials.
