Recess, opportunity to feel pulse of our constituents – Kogi Assembly Speaker
The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf has described the recess being embarked upon by the members of the State House of Assembly as an opportunity for the legislators to refresh and hear from those whose mandate they have to represent them.
He stated this in a press statement signed and made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.
According to the Speaker, members of the current Assembly are people of high integrity with commitment towards the development of the communities they represent, adding that they have resolved to use the opportunity to further understand their problems in order to proffer solutions to them.
The Speaker who urged the people of the twenty-five constituencies in the state to continue to cooperate with their representatives added that they are men and women who are committed to improve the wellbeing of their people.
The Speaker, who further urged the people to engage constructively with their representatives said it was only through quality pieces of advice and criticism that they would know areas to improve.
According to Rt Honourable Umar, the current legislature in the state is determined to work closely with the executive in order to provide needed dividends of democracy to them, stressing that the administration of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo is committed to ensuring he builds on the gains of democracy recorded under the immediate past government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
Our reporter gathered that the Assembly went on recess at the end of plenary on January 31st, 2024 following the screening and confirmation of commissioners in the cabinet.
