Dangote Group Expands Operation with Sea-Based Petroleum Transportation
The Dangote Group has announced plans to transport refined petroleum products by sea, alleviating pressure on road networks and facilitating exports to other African countries.
Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser to the Group President, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. The company is constructing a jetty in the Lekki Free Zone to handle bulk cargoes during the refinery’s development.
“We will transport finished petroleum products to other ports along the Nigerian coast by sea, for further distribution to the hinterland,” Wali-Abdurrahman said.
At the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry trade fair, the Dangote Group showcased its state-of-the-art oil refinery, attracting a large crowd. Attendees explored various business units, including Dangote Fertilizer, Sugar, NASCON (Salt), and Cement.
Participants expressed interest in business and job opportunities within the company. Peter Ibrahim stated, “I’m here to find out what opportunities are available at the Dangote Refinery.”
Sale Sagir, a cement dealer, said, “I came to learn about distribution opportunities for Dangote Petroleum products.”
Wali-Abdurrahman highlighted the company’s investment in Compressed Natural Gas, aiming to reduce carbon footprint and costs.
ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, commended Dangote Group’s significant role in Nigeria’s industrialization, noting its “unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development” and substantial tax contributions.
