Tribunal: Falsehood Can’t Derail Ododo’s Performance – Kogi Auditor-General for LG
Kogi State Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege has reaffirmed that his principal, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo would remain resolute in his commitment to meeting the needs of the people despite the ongoing legal proceedings challenging his victory in the November 11, 2023 governorship election.
Hon. Yakubu made this known recently in Abuja while reacting to the various biased narratives being fed to the public by opposition parties, particularly the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The Local Government Auditor-General noted that while others poorly utilized the November 11 governorship election to test their popularity and discreetly launch their political career in the political firmament of the state, Governor Ododo was fully prepared and proactive with a workable comprehensive manifesto and requisite experience to consolidate and build upon the progressive legacy already established by the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
His words: “Governor Ododo will not be distracted from fulfilling his obligations as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State despite the legal fireworks. Since the inception of his administration on January 27th, beginning with the distribution of hundreds of bags of rice as palliatives across the state a couple of weeks ago, the outpouring of eulogies from within and outside the state has been profusely unabated.
“Also, the recent commendations from the Kogi State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on improved and prompt payment of salaries are a confirmation of the Governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
“So, the ongoing court proceedings are only a necessity to deepening our democratic growth and will not deter Governor Ododo from delivering on his electoral promises to the people of Kogi State who freely entrusted him with the mandate to lead them to a place of rapid development”
Hon. Yakubu consequently urged the people of the state to be law-abiding as always, expressing optimism that Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole would soon overcome the current economic realities which he attributed to vested interests in high places seeking to undermine national progress.
