Tribunal Dismisses APP’s Petition Against Ododo’s Victory
The petition filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP), challenging the victory of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State in the November 11, gubernatorial election has been dismissed by the Kogi Governorship Election tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Hon. Justice Ado Yusuf Birnin–Kudu, following the withdrawal of the petition by Counsel to the Petitioner, Daniel Edeachi, Esq.
According to reports gathered by Fancy Media Team, “ The APP in a petition with No. EPT/KG/GOV/01/2023 had filed the petition challenging the return of the Gov. Usman Ododo, the All Progressive Party (APC) and the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) as the 1st to 3rd respondents respectively, in the Kogi State Governorship Election held 11 November 2023.”
The tribunal reviewed the affidavit of no objection filed by the Respondents’ respective counsels to the APP petition and subsequently struck out the petition.
This withdrawal was not opposed by Counsel to Governor Usman Ododo, Ibrahim Sanni Muhammed, SAN, Counsel to APC, DC Denwigwe, SAN, and Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Kanu Agabi, SAN.
