Kogi Governor Commits to Sustaining Security Measures
The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, has pledged his commitment to ensuring that his administration sustains the effort to tackle security challenges in the state.
Governor Odovo made the remark while speaking to journalists at the end of a closed-door meeting with Caretaker Chairmen from across the twenty-one (21) Local Government Areas of the state in Government House, Lokoja.
According to the Governor, the effort is a deliberate measure aimed at mitigating the pockets of crime and threats to lives and property in some parts of the state.
The Governor noted that the existing security architecture, entrenched by Governor Yahaya Bello in the state, has yielded tremendous success in combating violent crimes and must be sustained to ensure progress and advancement in the state.
His words: “Given the successes recorded by the immediate past administration of my predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in taming the menace of insecurity in the state, we must continue to accord top priority to the security of lives and property of the people.
“We cannot afford to drop from the height we have attained in securing the lives and property of our people as a result of desperate attempts by a few unpatriotic elements who may want to undermine our collective resolve to keep our state safe and secure.
He described the safety and security of its people as the number one priority of his government, stating that his administration would leave no stone unturned in its quest to protect it’s people and keep them safe from unscrupulous elements.
“I have reiterated my stand to the local government chairmen that security remains top priority in the agenda of the government entrusted to me by the people. We must be prepared to do whatever it takes to secure every inch of Kogi State, and this is not negotiable,” he stressed.
Governor Ododo urged the Local Government Chairmen to redouble their efforts to secure all communities within their immediate environment and borders.
He equally, enjoined the transition chairmen to be in touch with the people whom he tags as primary sources of intelligence gathering for any security intervention by the government.
